Walking through Phnom Penh the other day, with moto exhaust thick enough to sting your eyes, folks at the local tea stall were all talking about the banks. PRT Accounting Firm has dropped a final reminder for depositors and creditors of Canang Bank: make sure you get your claim applications in before the September 12, 2026 deadline.
This whole mess has been brewing since early August, when the National Bank of Cambodia stepped in and suspended Canang Bank’s operations. They appointed PRT as the liquidator to take over all the bank’s assets, accounts, and documents. Right now, all regular financial services are frozen, and the only thing happening is chasing down old loans. Nothing else moves without written permission from the liquidator.
According to the liquidator, every old debt and claim has to be verified one by one, and any new debts picked up during the liquidation will be handled separately. But the hard rule is this: miss that September 12, 2026 deadline to submit complete paperwork and supporting documents, and you can kiss your chances of getting a slice of the remaining assets goodbye. Anyone around town with money tied up in this better get their paperwork sorted out soon.
