Kandal Provincial Governor Kong Sophoan recently called a meeting with representatives from five casinos operating in Lvea Em and Leuk Dek districts, laying down the law: any underground online gambling operations must be completely shut down by the end of September 2026.

The local administration made it clear that the crackdown on online gambling is non-negotiable and aimed entirely at protecting community security and public peace. Starting October 1st, authorities will begin thorough, on-the-ground inspections. Anyone caught defying the ban will face strict legal action without exception. Moving forward, these establishments are restricted to physical, walk-in customers only, with internet betting strictly prohibited.

Local officials and law enforcement agencies will maintain daily monitoring and intelligence gathering. Under the province's current plan, Kandal aims to be completely free of online gambling by the end of September.
