On August 31, Preah Sihanouk provincial authorities moved into a street in Village 5, Sangkat 4, Sihanoukville, surrounding three adjoining apartment buildings in a major joint operation ordered by the provincial governor and accompanied by a court prosecutor.
A specialized task force searched the premises and seized four laptops, 118 smartphones, and one tablet. Ten Chinese nationals were detained at the scene. Four of them are suspected of involvement in online scams, including one individual without valid residency documents. The remaining six, which include two women, were held for immigration violations.
Local media reported that the ten suspects and all seized electronic equipment have been handed over to the provincial police headquarters for further questioning and legal action.
