On Thursday, police and military in Mondulkiri Province arrested a man after receiving a tip-off through an emergency hotline. The incident took place in Roka Commune, Koh Nhek District.
Officials mentioned that the operation was carried out under direct orders from the provincial police commander. A special team of six, led by the head of the criminal bureau, was involved.
The case came to light when a 19-year-old girl from Roka Commune reported it. The suspect, Sok Sambou, a 47-year-old farmer from Tbong Khmum Province, was taken into custody.
Police also seized a black phone at the scene as evidence. Both the suspect and the evidence are being prepared for transfer to the Mondulkiri Provincial Court.
