Yesterday in northwest Cambodia, four fuel tankers derailed, spilling diesel and gasoline everywhere. Local police reported the incident happened near the 277-kilometer marker on the railway in O Char commune, Battambang city.
The freight train was traveling from Tela station in Sihanoukville to Boeng Pring station in Battambang, carrying three diesel tankers and one gasoline tanker, when it overturned. The spilled fuel contaminated nearby waterways and land, affecting both the environment and local residents. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Under the direction of National Police Chief Sar Thet and Battambang Governor Sok Lu, Provincial Police Chief Danh Eng Bunchan dispatched fire and intervention teams to the scene. Officials cordoned off the area, warning residents not to collect the spilled fuel due to fire risks. Despite the warnings, some people still gathered to watch, while police and local officials kept a close eye on the situation.
