If you've got friends in Siem Reap right now—especially anyone who likes heading out toward the hills—they'll want to take note. Local authorities have just issued a warning to stay away from a specific area through Tuesday due to live-fire military exercises.
According to local media, the drills are being led by the Army's 2nd Intervention Division at Phnom Bakong in Rumlong village, Kantout commune, Svay Leu district. They'll be testing weapons there over a four-day period.
Anyone who usually hangs out or works in that area should find somewhere else to be for the next few days. Safety first—and if people hear explosions or gunfire in the distance, there's no need to panic, as it's just routine military training.
