Early on the morning of September 11, the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port welcomed a very large visitor: the Russian Navy training ship *Perekop*. Ream Naval Base Deputy Commander Ing Sokhemra was at the dock to greet the vessel, alongside a formal welcoming ceremony.
Bearing hull number 310, the ship is part of Russia's Baltic Fleet. The delegation is led by Captain Vyacheslav Sytnik, head of the Russian Naval High School. The massive ship weighs in at over 6,000 tonnes, stretches more than 100 meters long, and has a six-meter draft.
According to local media, the port call is aimed at strengthening military cooperation between the two countries. Anyone hanging around the port area might just catch a glimpse of the long-distance visitor anchored off the coast.
