In the dead of night, the Thai-Myanmar border was shaken by two loud explosions that startled residents on both sides. According to local media outlet Amarin TV, the blasts occurred on Sunday night, September 13, when two bombs hidden in a vehicle detonated, turning the car into scrap metal.
The first explosion happened right outside the police station in Myawaddy, Myanmar, completely destroying a nearby vehicle. Shortly after, the second blast went off near the Second Thai-Myanmar Friendship Bridge, specifically on the Myanmar side close to Mae Sot in Tak Province. The two explosions caused significant damage to parked cars along the roadside.
Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries or fatalities. Local officials have pointed fingers at opposition groups, and the Myanmar military has since ramped up security measures, conducting widespread arrests and tightening checkpoints along the border. This has left many residents feeling uneasy and unable to sleep well at night.
