There was more border drama today, this time over at the Mong La checkpoint in Myanmar’s Special Region 4. Duty officers conducting routine inspections flagged down what looked like an ordinary car queuing up to cross over. But when guards popped the trunk, they got a surprise: a man was crammed inside.

Local media reported that the stowaway is a Chinese national. Squeezed tight in the cramped boot, he had hoped to hitch a discreet ride across the border. The trick did not work, and he was caught red-handed right at the gate.

The border post is a busy spot, usually buzzing with traffic and motorbikes kicking up dust and exhaust fumes, but duty officers keep a sharp eye on passing vehicles. Authorities are currently processing the suspect and handling the case. Cramming yourself into a suffocating car trunk in the sweltering heat, only to get nabbed immediately—it turned out to be a complete waste of effort.
