On the morning of September 8, at the Meng'a Port in Menglian County, Pu'er, Yunnan, the judicial commission of Myanmar's Wa State handed two Chinese nationals involved in criminal cases safely back over to the Chinese side, following bilateral judicial and police cooperation protocols.
There has been plenty of activity around the border crossing lately. Motorbikes buzz up and down the border roads, while freight drivers and taxi operators keep asking about the shifting winds along the frontier. Locals on the streets are quietly talking about how cracking down on cross-border crime really takes teamwork from both sides—relying on just one side to push things forward always falls a bit short.
According to local reports, the Wa State judicial commission also stated that it plans to step up the fight against crime moving forward, deepening cooperation with China on intelligence sharing, joint case investigations, and combined operations to keep the border area peaceful and secure.
