Early this morning, things got tense along the Thai-Myanmar border in Myawaddy, Kayin State, when three explosions rang out in quick succession. According to local media, three spots around town were hit almost simultaneously. Thick black smoke billowed into the air, leaving two roadside cars burnt down to their frames and a traffic police box badly damaged.
Right after the blasts, the streets tightened up fast. Armed security forces rolled in and cordoned off the blast sites, sealing them off completely while investigators scoured the ground for clues. So far, no group has come forward to claim responsibility.
To be honest, incidents like this happen around here all the time. Not long ago, Myawaddy's police station and administrative offices were hit by bombs and drone strikes. Walking down the street, with motorcycle exhaust mixing with the smell of scorched debris, locals are already pretty much used to this kind of commotion—everyone's just hoping for a bit of peace and quiet.
