Here in Cambodia, especially Phnom Penh, the anti-fraud efforts are really ramping up. You see more police patrols on the streets. Those involved in 'grey area' businesses have really reined it in, and some have even packed up and left. The spending that these activities used to generate has really dried up. Even street food stalls are seeing much less business, and fewer people are out for late-night eats.
This has really hit the locals hard, especially those who depend on odd jobs and daily wages. Jobs were already hard to come by, and now it's even tougher. Many young people are struggling to pay their rent. They're out on their motos every day, breathing in exhaust, with heavy hearts. Everyone's asking, "When will things get better?" And for those who used to work in the 'compounds' or 'parks,' they really need to watch their backs now. The heat is definitely on.
