Local armed guards intercepted the fleeing workers and opened fire with AK-47 rifles at close range, leaving 6 dead and 8 wounded. The perpetrators buried the bodies and washed the crime scene, though joint investigators later recovered lingering blood evidence and biological traces from spent bullet heads.

The compound's financier, Lin Jian, had rented the workers from the notorious Bai family's Tenglong Company to run fraudulent investment schemes. Between January and July 2024, all six Myanmar armed guards who shot the victims and buried the bodies, along with boss Lin Jian, were arrested in a joint police operation.
