On September 26, a joint search team patrolling the Weijiao ward caught a Chinese national, Zhang Liqi, who was found to have entered the country illegally. Acting on his identification, the team raided a local residential property and detained another Chinese national, Chen Jianlin, along with a Taiwanese national, Wu Weihong.
Authorities confirmed that none of the three held valid travel documents, having crossed the Mekong River by boat from Laos into Myanmar. The trio is currently detained in a temporary holding facility facing legal action.
