Speaking at a graduation ceremony at the University of Management and Economics, the Prime Minister expressed his hope that by the end of 2026, the series of misfortunes—particularly the border conflicts and severe floods battering local communities—will finally conclude, paving the way for peace and prosperity in 2027. For northwest border areas that have endured recurring security friction and natural disasters, the statement serves as an official message of reassurance.
However, Hun Manet noted that relying merely on optimistic visions will not be enough. He stressed that Cambodia must actively prevent crises, confront realistic hurdles, and fortify national capabilities. With shifting external demand and tightening cross-border regulatory pressures, turning the local economy around and stabilizing border livelihoods will be an uphill task.
With Phnom Penh clearly prioritizing stability and long-term resilience, the next two to three years will prove critical in determining whether these recovery commitments can take firm root.
