Recently, a major international scam was busted thanks to a coordinated effort by police from China, Laos, Singapore, and Cambodia. This "national asset unfreezing" fraud involved over 60 billion yuan. A total of 257 suspects were arrested, and nine scam operations were dismantled, targeting the masterminds and key players behind the scenes.
Investigations revealed a tightly organized group operating in multiple locations both inside and outside the country. They used fake national projects to deceive people, primarily targeting middle-aged and elderly individuals through WeChat groups and dedicated apps. By charging small membership fees and promising high returns, they lured people into joining and encouraged them to recruit others.
In this operation, Lao police took the lead, arresting 110 suspects. Singaporean authorities caught the main financiers, while Cambodian police apprehended 44 key members. The Ministry of Public Security warns that these "national asset unfreezing" schemes are complete scams, urging everyone not to be fooled.
