Earlier this year, a group of colleagues and I managed to leave the Golden Lion area in Sihanoukville and head to Malaysia. We were lucky to get our passports sorted, but not everyone was as fortunate. Those who couldn't get their documents stayed behind, working in other companies involved in scams, and many ended up getting caught by the authorities.
Among those caught were a few folks from my hometown. After being sent back, they faced prison time. I worry they might name me to lessen their own sentences. My family urges me to return, but I can't risk walking into a trap. By July, when I still hadn't gone back, the police listed me as a fugitive online.
Even though I'm legally in Malaysia with my passport, I live in constant fear at work, always watching how my colleagues act around me. If the company finds out I'm on the run, it could be disastrous. I keep a low profile, trying to stay in the company's good graces. If I do get caught, at least I won't be alone.
