I've been in Vietnam for eight months now, and those early days were tough. Luckily, a good buddy of mine was already here, so we decided to share a place. He didn't have much financial pressure and quickly found himself a girlfriend. I thought they were in love, but it turned out to be more of a casual thing.

I wanted someone to be with too, so I started searching like crazy on Telegram and Facebook. I got lucky and met a girl. Her photos included her mom, grandma, and sister, and at first, I mistook her mom for her. We chatted on Telegram for two months, almost every night.

After my friend moved out, things heated up between me and the girl. When she came to see me for the first time, I was so nervous I cleaned the place until it was spotless. We used translation apps to talk, which made things awkward but sweet. She was about to leave, but I asked her to stay. That moment brought us closer.

Now, we've been living together for almost half a year. I often wonder if this relationship is genuine or just physical. But being in a foreign land, having a local girlfriend gives me a sense of security. I'm taking it one step at a time, but for now, I want to give her a home.
