Things have been far from quiet in Thailand's Chonburi province over the last couple of days. In the dark hours before dawn, police launched a sudden raid on a local villa, rescuing three Chinese women and arresting four Chinese men.
The break came through a desperate, secret WeChat message. One of the trapped women managed to text her family back home, saying she was held against her will and sending over her precise location. The moment the report reached the police, a squad of over twenty officers rushed straight to the house.
Sweeping through the property, officers found two women and one man on the ground floor. Moving upstairs, they caught three more men before finally reaching a bedroom. Inside, they found the third woman sitting in her pajamas—pale, physically drained, and trembling with fear.
According to initial reports, the women were lured to Thailand by job offers, only to have their freedom taken away the moment they arrived. They also stated they had been sexually assaulted, claims that investigators are still working to verify.
Inside the villa, police uncovered iron chains, condom packaging, and paraphernalia related to drug use. On one suspect's mobile phone, officers found explicit and disturbing photographs. None of the four arrested men possessed passports, leading police to suspect they crossed into Thailand illegally.
Authorities are currently gathering evidence and tracking down leads to see if a larger ring is involved behind the scenes.
