Over in Myawaddy's Kyaukket area, a notorious syndicate is running fake investment platforms and squeezing workers dry. The boss goes by Ah Qing, also known as AK. His main managers are Sanmao, Fufu, and Daniu, with a guy named Shanshui handling logistics. This crew used to operate out of Cambodia, running more than a dozen scam platforms at their peak. But when Cambodian authorities turned up the heat last year, they packed up and moved across the border to Kyaukket. Right now, they are pushing a new platform called "Yun Zu Xun" (Cloud Rent Info), which is listed directly on the Apple App Store.
These bosses give their people zero room to survive. When their Cambodian operations folded, they withheld all salaries and commissions, telling staff and agents they would only get paid if they relocated with the company to Myawaddy. Once the workers arrived in Myanmar, the abuse turned extreme. Management subjected staff to daily beatings and electric shocks, and even after platforms closed, the promised pay never materialized. Back during the raids in Cambodia, when several workers were arrested by police, the bosses abandoned them completely and focused purely on making off with the cash.
At night around here, motorbikes buzz through the streets leaving trails of exhaust, while cramped rental rooms fill up with young people trying to scrape together a living. Plenty of Cambodia veterans now in the area grit their teeth in anger at the mere mention of the Kyaukket gang. They are living lavishly on workers' blood and sweat while driving people to the brink. But more insiders are stepping forward to expose them, and it is only a matter of time before this crew has to settle their bill.
