The hammer just fell on four local companies as authorities officially placed them on a complete blacklist. Nobody is particularly surprised by the reason: direct links to "pig butchering" online scam operations and off-the-books money laundering involving Myanmar Kyat and USDT crypto. For years now, these flashy little "investment" offices have popped up on street corners, looking sleek from the outside while running shady operations behind closed doors.
The targeted companies span several townships: Grand Myanmar Empire in Mayangone, Silverdale in Dawbon, and Golden Shah alongside Kyaw Kyaw Htun in Botahtaung. According to official notices, the directors of these outfits were deeply involved in scam networks and underground money transfers. Now, all four companies and their four top executives are blacklisted, effectively blocking these bosses from ever setting up new shell companies or serving as corporate directors again.
Underground FX dealers are a common sight around the city. Sit at a roadside tea stall and it does not take long to spot people juggling multiple phones, watching USDT exchange rates tick up and down. A lot of young people renting nearby thought they had landed prestigious jobs at foreign firms, only to realize they were just working as disposable cogs in a scam mill. With authorities tightening the screws and tearing down these front companies one by one, the street-level bubble of overnight grey-market wealth is finally starting to burst.
