Over in Samut Sakhon, Thai police picked up a Chinese national carrying a Myanmar passport going by the name Mr. Myo. The charges against him are heavy, mostly centered around immigration violations and identity fraud. Even his son was hauled in for questioning, with officers collecting DNA samples at the scene.
Local media reported that he was slick enough to use Thai nominees to secretly control three companies with a registered capital approaching 200 million baht, along with 11 rai of land. All told, his assets run up to around 600 million baht. Years ago he held a Chinese passport, but somehow swapped it for a Myanmar one, and he is reportedly linked to fugitives wanted back home.
People on the street are saying it is getting much harder for bosses with gray backgrounds to clean up their acts and go legit in Thailand these days. With nationwide crackdowns on nominee holdings and fake IDs, no matter how deep you try to hide, you are going to get busted before you even warm up your motorbike exhaust.
