Myanmar security forces have cracked down on online gambling rings across multiple locations in Yangon, arresting 36 suspects—including 13 men and 23 women—following a two-week investigation. An associated suspect was also picked up in Tachileik in eastern Shan State.
The raids kicked off on the night of August 21 when law enforcement stormed a house in North Dagon Township, detaining 25 people on the spot. Following that lead, officers raided the Golden Team Mansion in Ahlone Township, where an online gambling operation was running under the front of "99 Legends Online Game." The raid netted the operation's boss, manager, human resources staff, and other key players.
According to local media, the probe later widened to cover online lottery operations and financial networks. Several individuals suspected of providing technical, financial, and operational backing were rounded up in early September.
So far, authorities have seized over 50 computers, 40 mobile phones, and two cars, while freezing 12 bank accounts tied to the syndicate. The seized assets and funds are estimated at around 396 million kyats, and investigations are ongoing.
