Local media reports over the past couple of days say that cyber scam syndicates along the road from Phalu to Walay, south of Myawaddy, are on the move again. With heavy fighting, artillery shells, and drone strikes rocking the Phalu area and nearby hills recently, scammers terrified of getting bombed have been scrambling to relocate their people and equipment deeper into the mountains and along the riverbanks. Places like Sone See Myaing, Taung Ni, Wa Mee Hta, and the Walay riverfront have seen a noticeable spike in traffic coming and going.
Construction workers on the ground say new buildings are going up fast in remote mountain areas to house the influx. Villagers report seeing a steady stream of locals, Chinese nationals, and other foreigners moving in, with small shops and vendors quickly following to set up business near the new sites. Locals also noted that a brand-new compound called "Shwe Taung Ni" has popped up near the Taung Ni hilltop.
Sources indicate that the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) provided security for the syndicates as they moved to their new locations. When reporters called the DKBA central liaison office to check out the claims, someone picked up, but stayed completely silent on the other end, refusing to address the allegations.
