A few days ago in Kachin State, resistance forces launched a direct attack on a military junta flotilla. Taking a heavy hit on the water, the military was quick to retaliate, immediately scrambling a Y-12 transport aircraft to unleash a fierce bombing run on nearby villages.
According to locals, Kong Dong and Sawadi villages bore the brunt of the attack, left in flames after the airstrikes. Sawadi village was hit particularly hard, with nearly the entire settlement swallowed by fire. The houses were reduced to charred skeletons, completely uninhabitable.
The atmosphere on the ground has been tense for a while now, with an on-edge feeling thick enough to feel even while zipping past on a motorbike. Ordinary people just want a peaceful night's sleep, but disaster fell from the sky, destroying homes in the blink of an eye.
