Just as the sky was starting to get light, several loud bangs rang out across Myawaddy. According to BBC reports, it wasn’t just one spot—three places were hit almost at the same time. Before the morning tea stalls had even properly set up for the day, the blasts had left two parked cars burned down to their metal frames and torn a traffic police box to shreds.
Right after it happened, the streets were filled with the sound of wailing sirens and buzzing motorbikes scrambling away. Soldiers and police quickly locked down the affected streets, pulled up yellow tape, and started searching people one by one. So far, though, no group has come forward to claim responsibility.
To be honest, incidents like this pop up here every few days. Just recently, the local police station and administrative offices were hit back-to-back by bombs and drone strikes. Walking down the dusty local roads, the air always carries a faint smell of smoke and motorbike exhaust, and people have long gotten used to scenes like this—life just goes on anyway.
