Things got tense around the Que Hoa Hotel in Phnom Penh this afternoon when a large force of military police rolled up and cordoned off the whole building. Passersby craned their necks trying to figure out what was going on, with everyone wondering what brought the authorities out in such numbers.
That area is usually busy enough with its heavy traffic, food delivery guys, and tuk-tuks all crammed together. But once the military police set up their perimeter, passing motos automatically slowed down to a crawl, eager to steer clear of any trouble.
