On September 8, Sihanoukville’s administrative coordination command moved in on a street in Village 5, Sangkat 4. Police raided two adjoining shophouses on the same block, busting a tech scam operation hidden inside.
Officers seized a heavy haul: 8 all-in-one desktop computers, 3 laptops, and 74 mobile phones. Seven Vietnamese men were caught on the spot. During checks, police found that one of them didn’t even have a passport or legal documents, yet was holed up inside with the rest.
With these shophouses, once the front doors are shut and the curtains drawn, outsiders only hear passing motorbikes and have no idea what’s going on inside. Local police have now handed the seven men, along with all the seized computers and phones, over to the provincial police headquarters for further investigation and legal processing.
